1st Annual WFR at Western
On June 3rd-7th, 2024 10 students and 5 teachers from Montrose and Ridgway came together for five days of hands work culminating in their Wilderness First Responder Certification with Billy Ranking of Intuition Consulting out of Crested Butte, CO. WFR is the industry standard certification for Wilderness Medicine and is a valuable certification for students considering both Healthcare and Outdoor Industry Career Pathways.
2024 Future Builders Construction Trade Fair
On April 10, 2024 over 400 students from Montrose, Olathe Crested Butte, Gunnison, and Ridgway came together to experience activities and instruction provided by local construction professionals and hosted by Montrose County Schools and the WSSCC. Over 50 individuals and businesses provided valuable eduction for students through practical hands-on exposure to a variety of trades within the Construction Pathway.
2023 VentureEx
On Oct. 3, 2023 students from Gunnison, Delta, Montrose, and Ridgway school districts convened at River Bottom Park in Montrose, CO to learn about career pathways and experience a range of hands on career connected activities facilitated by regional experts and professionals.
Thanks to Nature Connection, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, US Forest Service, Rigs Outfitters, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Outward Bound, Montrose Rec District, Telluride Adaptive Sports, Ouray Ice Park, Desert Mountain Medicine, and Gunnison High School for sharing their expertise and advising students on getting started on an outdoor industry career.

2023 Outdoor Industry Sweitzer Lake Excursion
On April 25, 2023 students from Gunnison, Delta, Montrose, and Ridgway school districts convened at Sweitzer Lake State Park to experience a range of outdoor activities and learn about career pathways from regional experts. The Nature Connection, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, US Forest Service, Rigs Outfitters, and a River Watch representative facilitated the experiences, sharing their expertise and advising students on getting started on a career in the outdoors.
2023 Building Futures Construction Trade Fair
On March 16, 2023 over 500 students from Montrose, Delta, and Ridgway came together to experience activities and instruction provided by local construction professionals and hosted by Montrose County Schools and the CO Chapter of the International Code Council. Over 50 individuals and businesses provided valuable eduction for students through practical hands-on exposure to a variety of trades within the Construction Pathway.
